There are a lot of reasons you may have taken your Xbox 360 apart. After you’ve gotten it apart and done what you needed to do, you’ll soon realize that there were an awful lot of parts. How do you put your Xbox back together again?
Don’t worry – it’s simple. You just need to reassemble the machine in the reverse order that you dissembled it. This can be hard to remember if it’s your first time doing any sort of at-home Xbox repairs.
Be patient and don’t force any of the pieces. Forcing parts back together risks breakage. You were likely patient when you took your console apart and it’s important to be just as patient when putting it back together.
7 Tips to fix the Xbox
1. The Fan Cover
One of the most common reasons to take apart an Xbox is to clean the fan. If you cleaned your fan, you probably removed the fan cover. Put the fan cover back on first. It’s shaped like your fan and will just clip back into place over the fan.
2. The Disk Drive
There are two cables on the back of your disk drive. Plug the cables back in and then lower the drive back into its place. It has four legs that will drop down into four holes where it goes.
3. Tray Clip and Power Button
The clip that ejects the tray of your Xbox should slip easily back into place on the front of the console. The same goes for the square panel that covers the power button.
4. Top Cover
Put on the top cover before you put it on the bottom. Sometimes the top cover requires a bit of wiggling. It has a pretty snug fit. Just jiggle it gently as you press it down.
5. Screws and Bottom Cover
Once the top cover is on then flip over the Xbox and screw back in all of the screws. The long screws go in the holes around the outside of the console and the short screws go into the holes toward the middle. Use the same screwdriver or Allen key that you used when you took the machine apart. These screws hold everything inside together and also attach the top cover. attach the bottom cover. It will clip onto the top cover.
6. Side Panels
The side panel with the hole goes on the side of the Xbox where you attach the hard drive. The side panel without a hole goes on the other end. Attach the hard drive panel first, flip the Xbox over and attach the second side panel. These panels will both easily snap back into place.
7. Hard Drive And Face Plate
Put your hard drive back into your Xbox as you normally would. The faceplate snaps onto the front of the console very easily as long as you have it right-side up. Now your Xbox is back together and it’s ready to plug in and play again.
