Most people have a Windows computer, and it may freeze from time to time, and there may not be an explanation for it. It can be very frustrating when the computer freezes, especially if you’re in the middle of working. A freezing computer can cause you to lose work, as well as lose time.
If you have a computer that is frozen, there are several remedies that you should try, in order to fix it. A computer will freeze when it is overloaded with information, and it cannot process all the programs that are going on at once.
Tips to freeze your computer
1. If you hear your fan working overtime, and blowing very loud, this means that your computer is working very hard, and this can contribute to why the computer has frozen. You’ll first want to wait and see if the computer will recover before you do anything else.
The most you should wait is 5-10 minutes, and if the computer stays frozen, then you may need to take action. If you are in the middle of something important, you’ll want to try to save your work, prior to restarting the computer. If you are using the internet, you can always get back to where you were.
2. Those who are using certain browsers are able to get back to the website they were on, even if they suddenly have to restart the computer. If you are typing up something or doing a project that you had not saved, you will end up losing your data, if the computer doesn’t automatically save it on its own.
If you’re trying to save your data, you’ll first want to try to do the command “control+alt+delete,” all at the same time. Once you press these buttons, the task manager will appear on the screen, giving you different options.
3. One of the options you can take is to choose the task that is causing the problem and end the task. If it’s your internet that is acting up and making the computer freeze, you can close the internet, then go back to the work you are doing and save it. You may want to do a restart after this.
If your computer still freezes after you’ve done this command, then you may want to do the command twice, in order to completely restart the computer. Once the computer restarts, it should fix any problems that were making the computer freeze before.
4. Sometimes the control+alt+delete command does not work when you use it, so you may need to press the power button on the computer, in order to turn it off. You’ll have to press and hold the power button until the computer powers down.
Be aware that this may end up losing your data, and it can potentially damage your computer. It’s always best to shut down the computer through the computer itself, and not through the power button. If absolutely necessary, you can always plug the computer out of the wall, in order to force it to turn off.
